About cardinal body parts. The cardinal body parts represent a global partition of the whole human body into externally visible distinctive parts. There are seven cardinal body parts which alltogether makes the whole body: the trunc, the neck, the head, the two upper limbs and the two lower limbs. Some authors would consider the neck as a part of the trunc and consequently not as a cardinal body part, but this view is considered as incorrect for several reasons. (More arguments to be added there.)Regions are defined corresponding to the cardinal body parts. There are also seven regio corporis humani which alltogether makes the surface of the whole body. |
